At Art-Well we use the power of Creative Expression to support healing, wellness and transformation.
Expressive Arts Therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses the arts, in Art-Well sessions specifically visual art making - such as painting, drawing and mixed media- to support emotional expression, self-discovery, and mental well being. The practice of these therapies with the guidance of a trained facilitator can play a powerful and supportive role in mental health and rehabilitation by engaging the brain in creative modalities that promote healing, adaptation and emotional resilience.

At the intersection of creativity and healing, I founded Art-Well to inspire individuals through the transformative power of Expressive Arts. With over 25 years experience as an education consultant, neurorehabilitation specialist and expressive arts facilitator, I help clients reconnect with their inner strengths, and move forward with purpose. As an active member of the Ontario Expressive
Art Therapy Association OEATA, Art-Well is governed by best practices and fully insured.
My career journey began in the fashion and design world, where I first witnessed how creativity can influence emotion and behavior. This passion evolved into a clinical and therapeutic calling - supporting clients living with disabilities, brain injuries and mental health challenges to heal and grow through guided artistic expression. Trained at Fleming College's renowned Expressive Arts Program and having worked extensively with organizations including the March of Dimes Canada, I have blended clinical expertise with creative insight to support meaningful, person- centered care.

Creative New Pathways in Rehabilitation
I had the good fortune of exploring expressive art as a therapy guided by Kim Baxter during a very difficult time in my life as I recovered from multiple injuries including an Acquired Brain Injury. It was nothing short a life changing experience, one that started and influenced a deep journey into creating visual art ongoing and now professionally. Kim has special ability to create a safe & secure space and guide ones mind to open up to deep expressive healing with visual art. Studies are beginning to show that exploring various art modalities has a profound impact that influences healing and promotes well being. In the area of expressive art I highly recommend working with Kim.

A Life Transformed Through Compassionate Care and Creative Healing
As a brain injury survivor, my path to recovery has been both challenging and enlightening. During my rehabilitation, I had the privilege of working with Kim through March of Dimes Canada. In addition to her role as the Rehabilitation Services Coordinator for York/ Simcoe Brain Injury Services, she was also my case manager. From the outset, she was instrumental in helping me set realistic goals and more importantly in supporting me as I achieved them.
I later reconnected with Kim in her role as an Expressive Art Therapist, attending Art-Well workshops. This experience was nothing short of transformative. Through various creative outlets, I not only gained insights into my emotions but also rediscovered a sense of confidence that had been eroded by my injury.
Kim's approach is a harmonious blend of knowledge, kindness, compassion, and patience. She possesses a deep understanding of the complexities of brain injury and tailors her support to meet individual needs. Her unwavering dedication has made an immeasurable difference in my life.
While my injury has undeniably altered my life, Kim has been a guiding light, helping me navigate this new chapter with hope and purpose. For that I am profoundly grateful.
